What is Rhodiola Rosea?

Rhodiola Rosea is an adaptogen used to promote good health, strength, endurance and physical and mental performance. It grows in cold, moutainous areas of Europe and Asia and has been used in traditional medicines for centuries.

Helps to relieve symptoms of stress and anxiety

Rhodiola contains a compound called salisdroside that relieves anxiety and stress. The plant is an adaptogen, which means it can help the body adapt its ability to deal with stress. It helps to balance cortisol levels (stress hormone) in the body, meaning if they are too high it can bring them down and vice versa. Rhodiola is also highly effective at combating stress, fatigue, anxiety and worry by repairing  exhausted adrenals. It supports serotonin and dopamine, which are essential for mood and mental function.

One study had 101 participants taking Rhodiola for four weeks and all of the tests showed that it assisted with stress to a clinically relevant degree. Another study showed students reported less mental stress and better sleep patterns during a stressful exam period.

Research suggests Rhodiola has promising effects on anti-ageing and longevity. Salidroside and rosavin compounds are key active constituents that are responsible for the plants longevity effects. Human cells are protected from premature ageing by saildroside when exposed to oxidative stress.
